The 89th Academy Awards ceremony presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored the best films of 2016 took place on February 26, 2017 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles-California.
The Oscar’s of 2017 suffered with a lot of mess for the very first time in the history not only because of a single movie ‘ La La land’ receiving the record amount of nominations but also because the same movie wrongly announced to be the best one when the actual was ‘Moonlight’.
After being criticized everywhere, now it’s clear that the collapse was a result of the mix-up of two envelops. Instead of the best picture, the presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway received an envelope with the best actress category winner Emma Stone from ‘La La Land’. The announcers had no idea that they received the wrong envelope because of the horrible typography used on the card. Although it mentioned Emma stone on top, it clearly said ‘ La La Land’ below with a little implication at the bottom that it’s the best actress award.
Take a look at, how horrible typography leads Oscars to face most embarrassing moments for the very first time in history.
